About Ann Ramsey BS,CERA, APF-I
I first picked up a rasp in high school, and began learning to trim my own horses. My curiosity about hoof care was peaked when I studied with Legendary Farrier Gene Armstrong at Cal Poly SLO. I graduated from Cal Poly SLO in 2006 with a BS in Animal Science, and a minor in Equine Science. While working as a Vet tech, I became interested in equine hoof pathology and began a new journey as a hoof care practitioner. Over the last 20 years, it has been the greatest privilege of my life to return a number of horses to soundness after a founder or navicular diagnosis. I've also had a lot of fun helping sound horses move and feel their best.
As a young equestrian I rehabilitated several thoroughbred race horses for second careers as dressage and jumping mounts. I became certified in Equine Rehabilitation at the Animal Rehab Institute in Florida. The teachers at ARI are some of my current mentors. They include: Dr. Hillary Clayton, Arlene White PT and Master's in Animal PT, and Dr. Narelle Stubbs Phd. in Equine Spinal Pain, (current PT for the humans and horses of the US Olympic team).
I am currently serving as a clinician and lead educational content creator for hoof care at Equitopia. Equitopia a nonprofit with a mission to provide horse owners with education in evidence based, horse health and management practices. Equitopia is based in Thornton, Ca but is recognized as an international group of equine professionals who contribute education via videos, live clinics and webinars. It is a privilege to serve with so many dedicated professionals in the US and Europe.
Horses have motivated me at every stage of my life and career. They've given me an unquantifiable gift... I hope I can eventually repay them.
