Experience, Ann Ramsey B.S. CERA, Apf-I

My curiosity about hoof care was peaked when I studied with Legendary Farrier Gene Armstrong at Cal Poly SLO. I graduated from Cal Poly SLO in 2006 with a BS in Animal Science, and a minor in Equine Science. While working as a Vet tech, I became interested in equine hoof pathology and began a new journey as a hoof care practitioner. Over the last 20 years, it has been the greatest privilege of my life to return a number of horses to soundness after a founder or navicular diagnosis. I've also had a lot of fun helping sound horses move and feel their best.

Equine Rehabilitation

Equine Physical Rehabilitation is the process of using evidence based therapies and exercises to return the horse to soundness. I started rehabilitating off track thoroughbred horses at a young age. My curiosity about healing the equine body began with my own horses, and grew to becoming certified in Equine Rehabilitation 2012 at the Animal Rehabilitation Institute in Florida. Therapeutic Hoof Care

My passion is to help horses who have developed hoof pathology. I use modern materials such as plastic shoes, and techniques like shoeing horses with the benefit of X-ray guidance.

Learn Practical Skills

From my private online consultations to articles, and online classes, my goal is to teach you the practical skills you can use on your own horses. Want to learn to use a manual technique to check for forelimb pain in your own horse? Click the button to understand this method in detail.

My mission is to guide you to evidence based care for your equine partner. While working as a team with veterinarians, I bring equine rehabilitation techniques such as conformation-tailored exercises, core conditioning, spinal care, massage, cold laser therapy and much more to strengthen horses before or after injury. When rehabilitation techniques are used as preventative protocols, powerful results are achieved for equine athletes.

As a hoof care professional I rely on veterinary diagnostics such as x-rays combined with trimming, composite shoes, and hoof boots, to rebuild the structural integrity of horses’ hooves. The hooves are an integral part of the whole horse’s health and at Equine-Rehab.com, it's a whole horse approach.
